Eligibility for Calhoun County Residents:

Any person three years or older who is a resident of Calhoun County is eligible to receive a free library card upon completion of the required form.  Adult cards are issued to persons 15 years of age or older.  Juvenile cards are issued to persons between 3 and 14 years of age.  Signature of legal guardian is required on application of juvenile.

Verification of home address is required for all persons at the time of registration.  The following are examples, not necessarily inclusive, of acceptable proof of address:  valid Alabama drivers license of applicant/guardian, checkbook that shows home address of applicant/guardian, current utility bill in applicant's/guardian's name, mail addressed to applicant/guardian showing recent postmark.

Persons meeting the above requirements may check out materials the day library card is issued.  Persons unable to present acceptable proof of address may complete the application form, and the library card will be mailed to verify information.  Materials may not be checked out until card is received in the mail.

Eligibility for Out-of-County Residents:

Any person three years of age or older who is not a resident of Calhoun County may obtain a library card for a fee of $25.00 per year per person.  Immediate family members may use one card, however, the number of items checked out may not exceed the normal limit (i.e. 10 children's, 15 adult, 2 videos, 2 DVDs, 5 audios).  The same verification of home address is required as for Calhoun county residents and materials may be checked out that day.  Persons unable to present acceptable proof of address may complete the application form, and the library card will be mailed to verify information.  Materials may not be checked out until card is received in the mail.

The $25.00 Out of County fee will be waived for the following:
